First Steps in Islam ("the App", "we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.

Personal Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address for authentication purposes. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name and email as authorized by you.

Usage Data: We collect anonymous analytics data such as lessons completed, features used, and general app interactions to improve the learning experience. This data is not linked to your identity.

Device Information: We collect device type, operating system version, and app version for debugging, crash reporting, and optimization purposes.

Location Data: If you grant permission, we access your approximate location solely for prayer time calculations and Qibla direction. Location data is processed entirely on your device and is never transmitted to our servers.

• To provide, maintain, and personalize your learning experience
• To track your reading progress and learning streak
• To calculate prayer times and Qibla direction locally on your device
• To process subscription purchases and manage your account
• To improve app performance, content quality, and user experience
• To send transactional emails (sign-in links only; we do not send marketing emails)

3. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on encrypted servers hosted by reputable cloud infrastructure providers. We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest to protect your information.

Your progress data, notes, and preferences are associated with your account and stored securely on our servers. Prayer times and Qibla calculations are performed locally on your device and are not transmitted.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate the App:

• Apple App Store / Google Play Store: Payment processing for subscriptions
• RevenueCat: Subscription management and receipt validation
• Anthropic Claude API: Powers the AI learning assistant feature; your questions are processed securely and are not stored beyond the current session
• Resend: Transactional email delivery (sign-in links only)

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising purposes.

5. AI Learning Assistant

Questions you ask the AI learning assistant are processed by Anthropic's Claude API to generate educational responses. We do not permanently store your questions or the responses. The AI assistant provides educational information only and does not issue religious rulings. Users are always directed to consult qualified scholars for religious guidance.

6. Your Rights and Choices

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your account and all associated data
• Export your notes and bookmarks
• Withdraw consent for location access at any time through your device settings
• Opt out of analytics collection

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, we will permanently delete your data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

If we learn that we have collected personal data from a child without proper consent, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.
